Privacy Policy

Your trust matters to us. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect when you use Honeycomb and Bee, why, and the control you have over it.

01

Who we are

Honeycomb is operated by honeycomb B.V., Apollolaan 151, 1077 AR Amsterdam, Netherlands. We are the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@athoneycomb.com.

This policy explains what we collect when you use Bee, our AI concierge, at bee.athoneycomb.com, and our website at athoneycomb.com — why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

02

What Bee is — and what it is not

Bee is an AI assistant that helps you discover third-party mental-health apps and tools through conversation. Bee is not a healthcare provider, a medical device, a diagnostic tool, or a therapist, and it is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please use the resources on our Crisis Support page or contact your local emergency number.

03

Information we process

Your conversations with Bee

When you chat with Bee, we process the messages you type and the responses Bee generates. Because these messages can reveal information about your mental or physical health, we treat them as special-category data under the GDPR and apply additional protections (see “The legal bases we rely on”). We also store an AI-generated summary and short internal notes about the conversation so Bee can give relevant suggestions, and a record of the apps Bee recommended and how you interacted with those recommendations.

You do not need an account to use Bee, and we do not ask for your name. Each conversation is identified only by a random identifier generated in your browser.

Limited analytics

To understand how the service is used and to improve it, we collect limited, first-party analytics: the marketing source that referred you (for example UTM campaign tags and the referring website), your browser type (user-agent), and a two-letter country code. The country code is derived from your IP address at the moment of your visit; we do not store your IP address in our database, although, like virtually all web services, IP addresses may appear transiently in standard server logs.

What we do not collect

We do not operate user accounts or passwords, and we do not collect or process any payment information. Bee is free to use.

05

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a small number of trusted service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Anthropic— provides the AI model that powers Bee’s conversation. The messages you send to Bee are processed by Anthropic to generate responses.
  • OpenAI — converts your search queries into a numerical form (an “embedding”) so Bee can match them to relevant apps. Your query text is sent to OpenAI for this purpose.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts our application and database in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).

Our AI providers process our data under their commercial/API terms, which mean they do not use it to train their models and retain it only briefly for security and abuse-prevention purposes.

06

International data transfers

Our hosting and database are located in the EU. Anthropic and OpenAI are based in the United States, so processing your messages and queries involves a transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers are protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, incorporated into our data-processing agreements with each provider, together with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards.

07

How long we keep your data

We keep conversation transcripts for up to 365 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Aggregate, non-identifiable statistics (which cannot be linked back to an individual) may be kept longer to understand long-term trends. You can ask us to delete your conversation sooner at any time.

08

Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.

Because we do not run accounts, the simplest way to identify your data is your conversation identifier. You can find it in the app, or simply describe your request and we will help. To exercise any right, email info@athoneycomb.com with your conversation identifier. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

09

Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not share analytics data with third parties for their own purposes. Bee stores a small random identifier and your consent choice in your browser’s local storage so your conversation can continue across page loads. Because this storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you requested and our analytics are first-party and minimal, we do not display a cookie-consent banner.

10

Automated processing

Bee uses AI to interpret what you write and to suggest apps that may fit your needs. These are suggestions to help you decide — they do not produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and a human is always free to disregard them. We do not use your data for automated decision-making of the kind restricted by Article 22 of the GDPR.

11

Children

Honeycomb is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will delete the relevant data.

12

You are talking to an AI

Bee is an artificial-intelligence system, not a human. We make this clear so you always know who — or what — you are interacting with.

13

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, ask for your consent again. Please review this page periodically.
